#5 Fante’s Great Aunt Gina’s Machine

fante's great aunt Gina's

Priced at under $30 the Fante’s Great Aunt Gina’s machine is best for chefs who have few people to cook for or only cook one type of pasta. Despite being a beautiful stainless steel, this machine is exceptionally small and can only make a small amount of pasta at a time. Furthermore, many users felt that even with the table clamp the machine was unsteady on the counter and made them wary that it was going to fall over and break or cause injury.

#4 Weston 6 Inch Traditional Style

traditional equipment

Available at an extremely low price, the Weston 6 Inch Traditional Style Pasta Machine can be an excellent addition to many households; however, it falls short of being a top ranked pasta maker. With its low cost come many problems including parts are cheaply constructed and prone to breaking, an unsteady base and multiple issues with the hand crank. However despite these issues individuals who are not yet pasta connoisseurs, but still want delicious tasting ravioli and fettuccine the low price of this pasta maker are sure to make it a popular option.

#3 CucinaPro Imperia

cucina

Billed as the Rolls Royce of Pasta Machines, the CuciniaPro is an above average product that falls just short of its proclaimed status. On the positive side, the CucinaPro Imperia is produced with durable materials that are designed to last for many years. In fact, few customers have reported having any reliability or durability problems with this pasta maker. Designed to be aesthetically beautifully, the Imperia has a sturdy stainless steel exterior and a wood cranking handle that easily attaches to a table with a clamp. No matter the pasta chosen to make, the Imperia is able to deliver great tasting food in many different cuts and thicknesses. However, on the negative side some users have complained that the handle can be very difficult to turn and that the pasta can become caught or stuck inside of the maker.

#2 Atlas Pasta Machine with Motor Set

atlas maker review

The Atlas machine falls just short of being the top ranked pasta machine of 2020. Despite its second place finish, it is an excellent all around machine with many great features and an automatic motor. For starters, the beautiful stainless steel construction is a welcome addition to any kitchen and is sure to be a topic of conversation among friends and family alike. Available with many additional attachments to create different types of pasta, ravioli and pastries this pasta maker has an easy to adjust 9-position dial. One of the best parts of the Atlas Machine is the powerful 220-volt motor which makes it easy and painless to roll the pasta while leaving your hands free to prepare the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, that motor comes at a cost which is why it has a second-place finish. If you have the budget, the cost of the motor will easily pay for itself.

#1 Marcato Atlas Wellness 150

marcato device

This is the best pasta maker of 2020. Handcrafted with the fingers of the greatest pasta chefs in the world, the Marcato is manufactured in Italy and packs many features into a great price. Many people make the common misconception that eating Italian food can lead to weight gain and unhealthy eating. However, using a pasta machine to create your own food is the best way to ensure you won’t be eating the processed ingredients found in a store bought product. With this equipment, customers not only receiver a sleek stainless steel appliance, but also they receive a cookbook of Italian pasta recipes. Manufactured from the Atlas’ “wellness” line, this machine includes special rollers that result in 3 types of pasta in 9 different thicknesses. If you plan to make a lot of pasta at once or like to make wide pasta, you may want to consider the 180mm version (Amazon) that comes with a 10-year warranty. Unlike the Atlas Machine, the Marcato Atlas Wellness does not have a hands free motor and instead, needs to be cranked by hand. But you can get a motorized attachment later if you feel you need it. It also comes in an array of different colors to match any kitchen!

Pasta Maker Buying Guide

Who doesn’t love a yummy pasta dish? Whether store-bought pasta noodles or not, good pasta is good pasta. However, if you want to take your kitchen know-how to the next level, you can start making your own pasta right at home. Believe us when we tell you that once you get started, you won’t be able to stop. Nothing beats the taste of fresh and homemade pasta noodles. Not to mention the praises you will get from friends and family when you tell them that you made the noodles from scratch. Definitely a humble-bragging moment you wouldn’t want to miss.

If you’re looking to buy a pasta maker, or just want to have an idea which one has the best pasta maker reviews from the experts, then you came to the right place. When you have your very own pasta noodle maker, every pasta dish that you prepare will be a treat! Call it a labor of love that will also give you solid kitchen creds.

Pasta ingredientsWhat is a pasta maker?

For people who are inexperienced in the kitchen, a pasta maker is a tool that you use to make pasta! It’s a fairly easy and uncomplicated tool to use, too. Simply slip your freshly made dough in the roller, turn the crank, and you got yourself your very own pasta. You can make different types of fresh pasta, from fettuccine to spaghetti. You can even make your very own linguine or ravioli!

Most pasta makers are designed to be clamped onto your kitchen countertop. This is to make sure that the equipment is locked and secured, so it’s easier for you to roll in the dough and turn the crank.

They also come with several fittings, like rollers and cutters. Some even come with special attachments, making it possible for you to make even fresh stuffed pasta. The rollers can be easily adjusted to achieve the pasta thickness that you require.

What are the different types of pasta makers?

pasta extruder

Generally speaking there are two categories of pasta makers. There’s the pasta roller, which is usually hand-cranked and produces pasta by flattening the dough between rollers and then cutting it into flat pasta. Pasta rollers can roll and cut spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, and lasagna noodles. There’s also the pasta extruder that makes pasta by pushing (extruding) dough through an attachment at the end of a hollow cylinder. Pasta extruders can produce different pasta shapes by attaching different dies, and can also make round pasta like macaroni, rotelle, rigatoni, and penne pasta. If you want an electric pasta machine that can make and knead dough for you automatically, you probably want a pasta extruder.

How do you use a pasta maker?

Once you have your pasta dough prepared, simply slip it in the pasta roller. Use one hand to turn the crank and the other to support the exiting end. Adjust the settings so that the space between the rollers gets smaller and the pasta dough becomes thinner. Do this two to three times per setting. Once you have rolled the dough to your desired thickness, you can then feed the dough into the slot for pasta sheets or pasta strands.

If you’re making rigatoni, rotini, fusilli, or macaroni and using a pasta extruder, simply feed the dough (the dryer the better) into the extruder, small batch by small batch. Cut the noodle as it exits the hatch according to the length or the size that you need.

What are the components of a pasta maker?

The pasta maker may look intimidating at first, especially if you have never used one before. However, most pasta makers are actually just compact and uncomplicated kitchen tools that consist of a clamp, rollers, attachments, and a motor if it’s the motorized kind.

What are the things that you should consider when buying a noodle maker?

Ease of Cleaning: If you don’t like cleaning and washing, then you should not consider buying a pasta maker that takes forever to clean. For motor pasta makers, make sure that the noodle disks are easy clean so that pasta dough will not be stuck in the holes. Also pick a pasta maker with parts that are easy to remove and put back in.

Thickness Adjustment: You should be able to easily adjust the pasta maker’s thickness settings. One click is all it should take to have a dough as thin or as thick as you need it.

Clamp: When choosing a pasta maker, don’t forget to check if it has a sturdy and secure clamp. Otherwise, it will just move around the table top as you turn the crank.

Manual / Motor: Whether manual or motor, the pasta maker should be easy to operate and quick to assemble and disassemble. When you press or twist something, it should perform the corresponding function. For a manual pasta maker, make sure that the crank is sturdy as this will be the part that will bear the brunt of the work.

Width: It should have a decent size feed width so that it can accommodate larger dough sheets. Some pasta makers can have 18 inches or wider, but they will cost more than the regular ones.

Attachments: Most pasta makers come with accessories like cutters, disks, and stuffers.

Build Quality: If you buy a cheap pasta maker, don’t expect it to last for long. If a machine has excellent build quality, you can use it over and over again and it will still work like it’s brand new. It should have an attractive but functional design, and parts will not fall off easily. Most of all, it should be able to produce great quality pasta.

Keep this in mind when you buy your pasta maker, and get started making some pasta!

Where can I buy the #1 rated pasta machine (Atlas w/the 220 volt motor)?

In the US it comes with a 110 volt motor. US homes don’t use 220v for consumer products.

I’m confused with the good Marco Atlas reviews because there are many current 1 star reviews of it on Amazon. Issues especially include the crank screw.

      Hi Gary,

Actually the Marcato Atlas has less than 2.5% 1-star reviews on Amazon. And overall it has over 92% 4 and 5-star reviews, which is a rare find. Go with the Atlas pasta maker, it’s the best pasta machine around.
