Breville JE98XL – Good or Bad? Feb 05, 2014 yumme Equipment 0 When it comes to appliances that make life in the kitchen a little easier, Breville is a name that you can trust. The JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus is one of the best-selling juicers on the market – but does it get the job done? Read our Breville JE98XL Review to find out … Features Breville is a brand that is never shy of a feature or two and the JE98XL is very well equipped indeed: 850-watt dual-speed motor 3-inch feeder chute Stainless-steel cutting disc Safety locking arm Overload protection LED Large-capacity pulp collector Large-capacity pulp collector Dishwasher-safe parts; including 1-liter juice jug with froth separator, filter basket, and cleaning brush 1-year limited warranty Pros While features are important, what you really want to know is how well this machine can juice – so let’s start this Breville JE98XL review by looking at what’s to like. Firstly, you’ll be pleased to know that the Breville does juicing very well and is excellent at extracting juice from fruit and vegetables, even those with hard rinds. It comes with an extra-wide three-inch feeder chute, which can easily accommodate a whole apple and is super easy to use. We also found the juicer to be quick – taking just five minutes to knock up a raw food organic juice, without having to slice up any of the food into small pieces. The problem of heated ingredients (common with masticating juicers) is a total non-factor here, which is a real bonus and prevents food from being destroyed. Cleaning – always a purchasing factor with consumers – is pretty easy by hand, as parts are easy to disassemble and assemble. Most parts are also dishwasher safe. Another positive worth mentioning is the owner’s manual. These things are so often a letdown, but Breville has done a good job of making it useful and easy to read. Cons In putting together this Breville JE98XL review, the biggest disappointment we found was the juicer’s lack of ability to extract juice from leafy green vegetables, particularly kale. It is not designed for herbs or wheat grass either, so you’ll need a dedicated product if that’s your thing. The number one complaint with consumers that buy this machine is likely to be the noise output – this thing definitely is not quiet! We also noticed a lack of power resulted in a soggy pulp residue during some cycles. Conclusion Despite the downsides that were flagged, the Breville JE98XL review left us feeling positive about this machine and we found it be an efficient juicer that is easy to use and easy to clean. For those reasons, we would be happy to recommend it to readers.
