Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe Sep 22, 2013 yumme Pasta, Recipes 0 If you’re looking for a classic pasta dish to make friends or family, the spaghetti bolognese is definitely worth trying out. This is a simple dish that is easy to cook and tastes even better when it’s made at home. It’s awesome when paired with a nice glass of red wine and tastes even better with some fresh garlic bread. Even beginner chefs can cook this up without a lot of effort by following the simple directions that are listed below! IngredientsDirections 1 lb spaghetti 1 lb lean ground beef 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar 2 cans crushed tomatoes (28oz) 3 sliced diced bacon 2 tbsp tomato paste 1 large chopped onion 2 tsp white sugar 1 tsp dried oregano Salt and pepper 2 tbsp chopped basil 3 minced garlic cloves 1/2 cup parmesan cheese Boil a large pot of water with salt and then cook pasta until it’s al dente (this means it’s still firm but not crunchy). This should take around 12 minutes, but you can taste the pasta to make sure it’s done cooking. Once it is finished, drain the water from the pot and set the pasta to the side. Take a large skillet and heat olive oil in it over medium heat. Add in the bacon (already chopped) and cook it until it’s crispy, which should be around 8 minutes. Once this is finished add in the oregano and onion into the skillet and cook over medium until the onions begin to get soft. After around 8 minutes add in the garlic and continue to cook for around two minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant. From here take some ground beef and crumble it up into the skillet. After you’ve added it all in, continue to cook until the beef has no more pink color in it. This should take around 8 minutes, but can take up to 10 depending on your skillet. Once the ground beef is cooked in the skillet you will measure out the balsamic vinegar and pour it in. Simmer this for around five minutes, or until you see that the liquid has evaporated. From here you will need to add in the crushed tomatoes, sugar and tomato paste to the skillet. Turn up the heat to a boil and then add in some salt and pepper to season. Once everything is mixed together you can remove the skillet from the heat and top it with fresh basil. Take your pasta and put it into individual bowls to serve. Then pour the sauce over the pasta and top with as much parmesan cheese as you would like. You can also top with additional basil if you would like! Tips You can use ground turkey meat as an alternative to beef if you want to cut down on calories and fat. Add in chopped celery and chopped carrots (or other veggies) if you want to sneak in some vegetables and increase the nutrients in this dish. You can make the sauce ahead of time and freeze it for future use! Just heat it up when you’re ready to use it and enjoy over freshly cooked pasta.
